Description: Milano: Officine Grafiche Ricordi. 1962.[NS] Folio, pp. 32, [2], CII, [13], 37cm. Clean DJ that was placed in mylar for protection by previous owner, mostly likely the bookshop, Sullivan Goss Books & Prints in Santa Barbara, Ca since their shop label is tastefully placed on the lower right corner on the back of the book. Verso of dj is clean and shows no foxed areas. I could spend much time celebrating the vivid image printed on the front of the DJ...... wow...The print quality that reflects the paintings illumination is beautiful. Book is securely bound in red cloth boards with gold lettering on front and spine. Inside text is clean & bright, which is not surprising with the quality of heavier paper used. This volume is divided into the Presentation, the Collection and then an index of Artists. The original slip is included and is clean & sturdy. Their is one tear on the top (see photo). The exterior shows some toning and bumps. Keep in mind, the text is in ITALIAN. (I believe there are editions available in English as well, but it is not this one.) The copy was acquired from a much loved and cared-for private collection. Mr. Berenson was known to be one of the preeminent Art Historians of his time, especially when it came to the Italian Renaissance. His home, "I Tatti", in Florence, Italy, continues to house his vast and exquisite collection of fine art. This volume presents the magnificence of that collection.
