Description: A rare and desirable large bronze handbell with iron clapper and turned beechwood handle by noted English bell maker Robert Wells. Bell is inscribed #12 near handle and has Wells’ cast mark inside bell. Bell is from the late 18th or early 19th century. A nice survivor that still works like it was new, it’s loud! Good condition overall with expected patination to bell and scattered bumps, no cracks/fractures. Handle with wear from use, small bite to finial at end of handle, later inscribed owner initials on handle, bumps/nicks. etc. Please see all photos for condition.
