Description: This is a figural Staffordshire pottery piece commemorating the Kilmainham Treaty of 1882 between Gladstone, then Prime Minister, and Parnell, the leader of the Irish. The treaty resulted in Parnell's release from prison. This figure is set with the angel of peace in the center flanked by lady with a harp representing Ireland, and Britannia on the other side. The angel is holding a ribbon banner in green with the inscription "Peace on Earth Good Will Towards Men". This figure is listed as rare in P.D. Gordon Pugh's book on Staffordshire portrait figures. It measures 12 3/4" high and weighs 5 1/4 lbs. There are a couple of stable cracks as shown in the photos, and it displays very well. Enjoy!
