Description: Here we have a superb antique Swedish folk art wooden box. I assume this is some form of Svepask or Tine (Teen-ah) bentwood box - though I have seen a couple of similar ones listed as "brides boxes" or "wedding boxes". This would date to the late 19th century so has a good deal of age. It is signed to the base "Ulla Barnsten" along with some numbers. This was purchased from an antiques market in Stockholm whilst away there recently. This would originate from the region and the bentwood (possibly birch or teak) is decorated with a lovely pokerwork design. The box is held in place with a forged wrought iron band to the base and a bent wooden band to the top. There is a removable wooden peg that keeps the lid in place. This has so much character and would make a lovely addition to a country home, it's a perfect storage box for a farmhouse kitchen. This is a really good size, the largest I have come across, it measures approximately 12 inches by 10.5 inches by 9.5 inches weighing around 2.25kg's. Very reasonably priced in my opinion. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Please see my other items where I have quite a few similar boxes listed for sale amongst many other decorative antiques and interesting items. Please add me to your favourites list and take a look at my other items as I have hundreds that will be listed daily in the up and coming weeks. Please Note; I use new & recycled materials to ensure that your item arrives to you safely. I pack all of my items the best I can which you will see from my feedback. However, as with fragile items there is always a risk, items such as Antiques/Collectables, glass, ceramics, paintings etc are not insured for damage by any of the postal services, with the exception of The Royal Mail. This is why I offer a choice of postage options, so you can choose your preferred postage method. Collection in person is also available on all of my items. In the unfortunate, and unlikely event that something does get damaged or goes missing with the Royal Mail then I will do my very best to assist you in making a claim. I always obtain proof of postage for all of my sent items. Sadly I cannot be held responsible for the postal services poor handling of parcels. Here are a few links regarding Royal Mails compensation policies and how to make a claim if necessary. http://www.royalmail.com/business/help-and-support/Royal-Mails-retail-compensation-policy-for-loss http://www.royalmail.com/personal/help-and-support/claims-process-for-inland-items International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties; sometimes there will be a charge, I think this is mainly charged on high value items, this is something that the Government enforces to which I have no control of. I declare the value of the parcel as the price the item sold for plus shipping costs. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
