Description: Man Against The WindSculpture by: Richard Siegel 2015 signed and dated Man Against the Wind is a ceramic work created as an exercise in creating motion in a ceramic work of art. The work shows a man blown by strong winds as he works hard to make his way down a stone strewn road. The struggle of mankind through the winds of time is part of the theme. The face is anonymous and the form is seen rippling and slanted against the winds of fortune. Created with course clay from Valencia, Spain, and done in the traditional manner, the work was cooked 3 times in the oven to get all the essentials that make it up. After being cooked at 1200 degrees centigrade the work then went to get specialized glazes to give it color. Additionally iron oxide was used to give a red color to the hair and beard when cooked at 900 degrees centigrade. This is an ORIGINAL piece of art, not a copy, not mass produced, and not a duplicate.
