Large Vintage TESSELLATED Japanese DUCK Abalone Stone MOP Lapis Maitland-Smith?

Description: A very unusual Duck figure created with various types of stone tiles over a wood base. It measures approx. 13" long from beak to tail and is solid...heavy for its size. I am not an expert, but I believe Abalone, Malachite, Mother Of Pearl, and some Lapis are used. I do not know what the Beak is. It is similar to some pieces I have seen by Maitland-Smith company, but as you can see this one has a raw wood bottom with Japanese? writing. Overall very good with three missing tiles to the top of the head....still displays beautifully! Please see all pictures for close ups. Please inspect all photos for detail.
