Description: LATE 18th - EARLY 19th CENTURY 16 BLADE MECHANICAL MEDICAL SURGICAL SCARIFICATOR BLEEDER - AMERICAN MADE PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH ORIGIN Certainly the earliest mechanical medical scarificator bleeder we have ever seen or handled, this medical piece on offer has wonderful engraved decorative embellishments that scream of Pennsylvania Dutch origins. The mechanism is rather tight and hard to cock, but the unit does work. Being so tight it is not advisable to seek to cock the mechanism, as one may cut themselves severely if the unit slips in one's hand during the process. HAND MADE ENTIRELY OUT OF BRASS & STEEL. Circa 1790 to 1820. EXTREMELY EARLY & RARE. Wear, tarnish and patina to brass body and steel blades is consistent with age and use. Please see all photos as they are part of the description.
