Description: LEAVING ENGLAND - BRITISH ARCTIC EXPEDITION C1876 Magic Lantern Slide Once of a number of illustrative slides relating to the British Arctic 1875-76 expedition. the slide is titled " Arctic Expedition" and a number of them ( being sold separately ) show the HMS Alert as well as events from the expedition. They do not have a makers label but I would date them to soon after the return of the expedition and would likely have been used to give a presentation about the trip. The slide normally has a inner paper border and then the slide is then held together with edging paper.
