Description: Antique lemon gold gilded and hand carved tabernacle style frame with scroll motif. It’s Arts and Crafts Movement era (1880’s-1920’s) and Renaissance Revival since it’s inspired by 17th century Italian frame styles. But, this is is an American made frame by Newcomb Macklin Company per the extensive pencil writing / framer’s notes. No back corner splines on this one though, due to construct. It’s a custom frame made to fit a 9 x 13 1/2 item (matting, painting, etc.), and style number "1503" (Newcomb Macklin always had a style number for each type of frame). Artists such as Abbott Thayer in the USA and Lawrence Alma Tadema in the UK used tabernacle frames on their paintings, so a figurative piece like a Pre-Raphaelite painting might work best in this.
