Description: Lemon mint monarda, also called Horsemint is a perennial to zone 5 through 9. It grows 3 feet tall and approximately 12 inches wide. It develops purple flowers and will seed. It flowers June through August and it attracts butterflies. It grows well in drier soil. The leaves have a lemony smell and taste. The stems are square. In colder zones, the seed may be sprinkled out in the Fall for germination in Spring, or you may start it indoors approximately 4 weeks before last frost then plant outdoors. Press seed onto moist soil and keep in light until germination which is in about 10-14 days. Keep soil moist. Space plants 18-24 inches apart. 50 seeds per pkt.
