Description: Due to the increase in volume of packages being shipped through the US Postal System, shipping times have occasionally been longer than those estimated by either eBay or the USPS tracking tool. This redware pitcher in yellow with green accentsis pottery from the Pennsylvania collector/teacher/potter/artist Lester Breininger (1935-2011).This 5⅜" tall sgraffito pitcher is decorated with a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch Rosette surrounded by tulips and flowers. The Rosette symbol is used in traditional PA Dutch Hex Signsas it protects from harm and ill will. This sturdy little pitcher has a bulbous body and a rope handle. Marked on the base with the PA Keystone symbol surrounded by the date "1981" and an unknown mark above the keystone,?(obscured by glaze)+L ... (Looks like "L+L" although I would expect to see B+L),BREININGERROBESON (blob of glaze obscuring the IA)Aug. 6 MEASUREMENTS about 5⅜" (13.8cm) tall about 6⅛" (15.6cm) wide including handle No damages noted. That being said, there are some imperfections that are not unusual to find in hand-made pottery pieces ... some small bubbles and foreign matter in the clear glaze, some areas where the glaze is thinner than the surrounding areas.Along the rim there are some small areas where the yellow is thinand allows some of the darker underlying clay to show through.(shown in photos #14 and #15)There are some superficial shallow cracks in the clay slipused to join the two twisted pieces of clay making up the ropehandle and joining the handle to the body - theseare not structural cracks and are beneath the clear glaze. These are shown in the last five photos. No crazing noted.
