Description: Liatris ligulistylis is a herbaceous perennial in the Asteraceae family. Its native range is from western central Canada to the west of central United States. Familiar names include Round-headed Blazing Star, Meadow Blazing Star, Rocky Mountain Blazing Star, and Showy Blazing Star. A good-cut flower for arrangements. This one likes high heat and humidity. It grows naturally in prairies, gravel areas, along streams, on rocky slopes, or in rocky woods. If grown in loamy soils, you will need to stake them as they will grow taller in this soil.
