Description: Used "Small folio"-sized facsimile reprint, in very good condition with some rubbing and marks shown in photos, mainly to the back of volume I, likely due to storage only as there is no wear to the pages, or signs of use. No other visible wear and no writing or marks internally. This is a facsimile reprint containing An English translation of the Latin on the facing page. See photos above. About the Set: This facsimile reproduction of the Liber Chronicarum of 1493 features the double page view of the city of Nuremberg, Germany where Ulman Stromer built his papermill in 1390. It was the first papermill north of the Alps, and is pictured in the lower right hand corner of the woodcut reproduction. The mill and others like it, were close to the water source, a river or stream or spring, and were outside the city walls due to the stench and noise the mills made. This is a set of four volumes of the Liber Chronicum, a Latin and English translation of a historical work. The books are in hardcover and are facsimiles of the original. The binding is intact and the pages are clean without any tears or folds. The work is written in English and covers various historical topics. It is a great addition to any collection of antique and collectible books.
