Description: Both of my parents passed away in recent years, my mother had a small collection of native American baskets and pottery which she used to decorate her and my father's beach house in Ensenada, Mex since the late 80's. I had to give up their beach house after they passed, this is one of several Kumeyaay baskets I kept from that house. It is unsigned, I know nothing about them, other than that they are Kumeyaay. I can only account for the provenance from the late 80's / early 90's which is around the time that I remember first seeing these baskets. I dont know if it is modern or if it is much older. NOTE- This basket sheds pieces of dried leaves very easily, handling it just a little bit makes a mess, but it is a cool artifact and will make a great addition to any collection of decorative native American baskets. I have another one almost exactly like this that is slightly smaller, plus a few others that are different shapes, not lidded- see my other auctions. It is 9.5" in diameter and 5.5" tall
