Description: Lindsay, Ontario - CANADA - Thurstonia Park - Sturgeon Lake: Lindsay is a community of 22,367 people (2021 census) on the Scugog River in the Kawartha Lakes region of south-eastern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 43 km (27 mi) west of Peterborough. It is the seat of the City of Kawartha Lakes (formerly Victoria County), and the hub for business and commerce in the region. The first cottage in the Thurstonia area was built by Henry Thurston in 1900. The Thurston family would gather at the park for family picnics, and so the area became known as "Thurstonia". In 1914, Percy Skitch took over Thurstonia Park from his uncle, Henry Thurston. At that time Skitch had been working in Toronto, but he moved his family back to Dunsford to take over the cottage business, which included four cottages and 17 acres of land. A year later, Skitch went to his father and said he was going to have to expand the business or quit. His father agreed to back Skitch's bank loan. Skitch immediately went to work building a lodge. In 1922, a store with second floor accommodation was added to the lodge, making for a total capacity of 75 people. By 1940, Skitch had 22 cottages available for rent. Sturgeon Lake is a lake in the Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway. The lake is Y-shaped and has the communities of Fenelon Falls, Lindsay, Sturgeon Point and Bobcaygeon at the north-west, south, central and north-east points of the Y respectively. The lake is approximately 25 km (16 mi) from the southern to the north-eastern extremes, the longer axis. This White Border Era (1915-30) postcard is in good condition. P. E. Co. Ottawa. No. 4.
