This car is a replica of the famous 20th Century Limited train that traveled between New York City and Chicago. The car is in excellent condition and has been well-preserved. The Pennsylvania Limited was a passenger train operated by the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) between New York City and Chicago. It operated from 1912 to 1995. The Pennsylvania Limited was the PRR’s original named train serving the lucrative Chicago to New York market. It was inaugurated during the early 1880s, nearly 30 years prior to the opening of New York’s legendary Pennsylvania Station, and outlived its parent. For twenty years, the Limited was Pennsy’s flagship until being bumped from this role by another train, which later gave way to the storied Broadway Limited. The Broadway Limited was a direct competitor to the New York Central Railroad’s 20th Century Limited. While the 20th Century Limited catered to business travelers and “new money” with its modernistic cool, sleek designs, the Broadway featured light, airy, and cheery accents and accommodated more to the older crowd. Despite reduced services, the Broadway Limited was one of the last trains offering an all-Pullman status and even outlived its parent until being canceled by Amtrak in 1995.
