Description: Here's a very cool piece of music history for fans of early blues and New Orleans curiosities. Lizzie Miles was New Orleans answer to Bessie Smith in the 1920s, and she is widely hailed as one of the best of the early blues singers. The album, Moans & Blues by Lizzie Miles, was released in 1954 as she was reinventing herself as a jazz singer. She signed it shortly after it's release, in a New Orleans nightclub called The Parisian Room in 1955. Ms. Miles has written on the back in blue ballpoint: "For Merle and Edith who likes our great dixieland Best Wishes Lizzie Miles Parisian Room N.O. La. March/1955" There are also autographs from band members Frank Federice, Roy Zimmerman, Charles T. Pink, and Bobby Castignola (these are hard to read, so it's possible i have the spelling wrong--please examine the signatures yourself). The jacket is in fantastic condition, with only minor shelf wear and corner bumping. The vinyl is in amazing condition for an album pressed in 1954. The vinyl is very clean with great luster, no scratches and only minor scuffing. This item will be shipped via Media Mail. Buyers of multiple items will save on shipping. Thanks for looking.
