Description: Item Description: This beautiful Taxco silver necklace was created at the well known Los Castillo shop in Taxco Mexico. This piece dates to approximately 1955. It is 16" long and has 18 links which are connected with "O" rings, allowing the necklace to fit comfortably. The clasp is a tongue and groove closure and is secure. The necklace weighs 78.7 grams. The center back piece is marked Los Castillo, Taxco and has a 92 at the center. It is also marked Mosaica Azteca with an Eagle stamp at the center and the number 161 below. The back of the clasp is marked Silver and Mexico. This vintage Taxco necklace is in great condition.Design and craftsmanship has always been a hallmark of the Los Castillo workshop. The Mosaico Azteca line was started about 1950 and continued through 1965. The technique used to make this necklace were adapted from Aztec techniques.
