Description: Set of 12 antique molding planes for use, restoration, parts. These wooden planes are used to put a bead along the edge of a board like back boards, the bottom of table aprons, or along shelf fronts. 11 have the appropriate wooden wedges and iron blades. 1 has a mismatched iron blade and wedge, which can be reshaped. The markings indicate these planes are from England around the 19th century, and they were purchased in Scotland a few years ago from a carpenter. Unique addition to a woodworker and collector. Overall in good shape and good working order with body and profile of the plane intact and straight. In “as found” or unrestored condition, but has been gently cleaned free of loose dirt, dust and debris. There are various signs of age, light use and storage. The wooden surfaces have scratches, marks, and areas of wear. The sole has some scratches, some wear and a few tiny chips to the edges. The stock, throat, bed and wedge look in reasonable or good shape. The iron looks in good condition but does have some heavy surface corrosion, and it feels reasonably sharp to the touch but could benefit from some restoration such as sharpening and honing.
