Description: This is a lot of three knife sharpeners - one whetstone and two knife hones - once owned by my brother, who was known as Rock BBQ (he played bass in The Mudlarks) in competitive BBQ circles. This is a part of his estate which I am just now getting around to putting up for sale. The long knife honing rod is labelled JAPAN and is 13" long. There are others for sale singly all over ebay, but as I am not sure of its materials I am not going to copy their descriptions. There is a large chip out of the unfinished wooden handle (see closeup pic) but the metal portion is for the most part still bright and shiny (see other closeup for its finish) with tiny little stripes. It is 1-3/8" in diameter at its widest point (the handle) and 3/8" diameter on the metal hone. The short knife honing stone is unmarked and of unknown material. The wooden handle is of lighter wood, and it was finished but it is rubbing off in large places. The stone itself has a natural verdigris patina to it; it has a rough sandpaper-like finish. I suspect it is metal? The metal tang is partially corroded but everything is still solidly together. It is 7-1/2" long, with a 1-1/8" diameter handle, while the hone is 1-3/8" wide at its widest point. The whetstone is of unidentified stone, but my geologist husband says it is definitely a metamorphic rock. You can still see the foliations on all sides! It fits in the palm of your hand: it is 4-1/2" long and about 1" wide at its widest point. These will ONLY be sold as a lot, please do not ask me to separate them. Very nice additions to a collection, or use them as they were used for many years. Thanks for looking!
