Condition: Split cover spine with 1” horizontal tear, rough top edge on the front cover, small corner chips on back cover, inner sheet spine 100% with excellent edges. Rating: 8- / 10, better than average, quality paper (inner sheet, with music, more like 9- / 10). Title: LOST SPRING (only cover adds “The”) Music: Hallett Gilberte Lyrics: Frederick H. Martens Publisher: Huntzinger & Dilworth, New York, 1916 (MCMXVI) Description: In g-minor, high note is G at top of the staff. Condition: Split cover spine with 1” horizontal tear on front only, inner sheet spine 100% with a 1/2” horizontal tear on the spine –excellent edges. Rating: 8+ / 10, really nice quality paper. Title: LOVE’S PHILOSOPHY Music: Jules Jordan Lyrics: (Percy Bysshe) Shelley Publisher: G. Schirmer, New York, 1886 Description: For Soprano or Tenor in A flat-major, high note is A-flat above the staff. Condition: Excellent edges, spine is 85%, chipped top left corner. Water staining along the spine, somewhat darkened borders all around. Rating: 8- / 10. Very nice for its age but paper is just a tad on the thin side. Title: AN OLD ENGLISH VALENTINE Music: Edward German Lyrics: Mary Farrah Publisher: Chappell & Co., London, 1911 (MCMXI) Description: For high voice in F-major, high note is F at top of staff. Condition: Cover spine fully split with small chip at top. Inner folded sheet is 97% with small chip at the top. Tiny hole in bottom spine corner of pp 5/6. Moderately heavy smudging on p 6. Rating: 8- / 10, high quality paper, most of downgrading for the strange smudging on page 6. Title: SHE WALKED WITHIN THE GARDEN CLOSE Music: Harvey B. Gaul Lyrics: Jean O. Potter Publisher: Huntzinger & Dilworth, New York, 1916 (MCMXVI) Description: For Low voice in B flat-major, high note is E-flat at top of staff. Condition: Clean split spine. 1” tear, right, through all pages. Couple of small tears & tiny chips. Moderately aged borders on the back. Rating: 7+ / 10, decent paper, not the highest quality but still good. Title: THERE IS A LITTLE LANE I KNOW (of Two Songs) Music: Paolo Gallico Lyrics: Clinton Scollart Publisher: G. Schirmer, NY, 1899 Description: For Mezzo-Sop. or Baritone in D, high note is A above staff (optional F-sharp). Condition: Cover spine fully split - clean. Inner folded sheet is 98%. Couple of tiny edge tears and tiny chips. Cover borders moderately darkened. Rating: 8+ / 10, Cover has the most (minor) flaws – inner sheets are of higher quality paper. Condition: Cover spine is 90%, inner folded sheet is 99%. Cover has lightly worn edges with a couple of tiny tears are mildly darkened borders. Rating: 8 / 10, main flaw is the slightly aged cover sheets. Title: WHEN SOFT WINDS BLOW (copy #1) Music: Claire Guedy Lyrics: Josephine Jackson Publisher: Gamble Hinged Music Co., Chicago, 1913 (MCMXIII) Description: In G-major, high note is G at top of staff. Condition: Original spine of Gamble’s 4-page hinge tape – 100%. Couple of tiny edge nicks. Rating: 9- / 10, High quality paper.
