Stoddard’s works influenced Adolf Hitler’s racial policies significantly and the two met in Germany in 1939 soon after the onset of the WWll. Very few 1st printings of these two books are ever seen, let alone a pair together! Each book is a 1st printing with points listed below: The Rising Tide of Color – The date of 1920 on the title page and copyright page with no other dates and the Charles Scribner’s and Sons Colophon at bottom of page. (Scribner didn’t start using the “A” to indicate a first printing until 1930) Clashing Tides of Colour – The Date of 1935 on the title page and copyright page with the Scribner colophon and letter “A” also present on the copyright page. CONDITION: Both books are in solid Very Good condition with very clean text blocks. The Rising Tides of Color has a former owner’s name written on the first blank page.
