Lovely Vintage 1941 Art Deco, 10K Gold Filled, Men's Elgin 555 Watch. Runs!

Please come back often, as we are always buying more goodies to list on ebay. This listing is for a lovely, vintage, men's Art Deco, 10K gold filled, Elgin 555 watch. The serial number on this watch movement dates it to 1941.This watch is in nice looking vintage condition, with obvious signs of wear and age. The watch is running but its appearance needs a little TLC, mainly to clean up the dial. The gold filled shell shows some wear in the form of mild surface abrasions on the bezel, case, and case back. The gold filled shell is mostly intact but there is a little wear along the corners and edges. The base metal is peeking through the gold shell on one corner of the watch case in back. The decorative design over the lugs shows a bit more wear to the gold shell on the raised portions at the center (see photos. The outer decoration shows more wear than that of the center. The watch's crystal is pretty scuffed and cloudy to peer through (see photos). It probably needs replacing if the new owner wishes to wear the watch on a daily basis. The watch band has 10k gold filled caps on top and is stainless steel on the bottom. It's an expandable band and is in very good condition in both appearance and function. The watch's main appearance issue is the dial which is dingy and shows some discoloration from age and wear to the black numbers of the lower dial (see photos). While the dial's surface is dirty, the gold numbers and hands look great. The watch movement Elgin 555 U*S*A. It has the serial number X982077. It has 17 jewels. The inside of the watch case has the serial 889544. I've tried to include detail photos that show any condition issues, such as the cloudy crystal and dingy dial, so please be sure to view them all. The watch is running and seems to run well, however, I've not tested it's time keeping accuracy. I also know nothing of the watch's history or when it was last serviced and can make no guarantees about its future working condition. I can only say that it is working at the moment and have taken video as proof. There is always some risk when buying aged mechanics and the new owner should factor in the cost of servicing when considering whether or not to purchase. After purchase, before I ship, I will check again to see that the watch still works and take a second video of it as proof. If the watch has stopped working, I will contact the new owner/s and give them the option of canceling the sale or renegotiation the price at that time. Once the watch leaves my possession at the post office, the sale is final with no returns. This is a beautiful watch and worth the investment into its restoration. It's also a great addition to one's vintage watch collection. Pictures are to be considered as part of the description.
