Description: This 1978 stereo double LP from ABC Records (AX-67022) is an American issue of a German release from one year earlier by SEON Musikfilm: performances of Luigi Boccherini's String Quintets Op. 29. Featured performers (all playing period instruments from 1570 through 1761) are Sigiswald Kuijken (Violin I), Alda Stuurop (Violin II), Lucy van Dael (Vioa), Anner Bijlsma (Violoncello I) and Wieland Kuijken (Violoncello II). The recording was made in Holland and originally issued in Germany in 1977. This American issue was released in 1978. Album notes are in English by Hans Christoph Worbs (translated from the original German by Gilbert A. Gibson; the German text is not shown). Titles are shown in English, German and French. Although the records themselves show as excellent, the outer sleeve has visible wear and numerous stickers, stamps and notations throughout, plus a hole punch near the upper right corner of the front. (See Photos 1-4) It was originally owned by radio station WIAN-FM in Indianapolis, IN, and the back side has notations of every broadcast date through 1989. (Photo 2) It then made its way to Ars Nova Records, from where it was purchased for this collection sometime in the late 1990s. This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of LPs and CDs that we will be listing here. All have been carefully stored for many years, played only on premium equipment, and show little to no wear.
