Description: MAD Magazine #1 Cover Concept Painting by Harvey Kurtzman Signed Numbered Litho! This is a Signed, Limited Edition Lithograph Print of The Cover Concept Sketch for the cover of MAD #1! MAD Debuted as a comic book in 1952 and was created by Revered Comics Legend Harvey Kurtzman! This is number 315 in a Limited Edition of only 750 prints-- Harvey Kurtzman passed away in 1993. Produced in 1991 by Another Rainbow, this item is a lithograph of the original rough cover painting to MAD Comics #1. The original watercolor was painted by Harvey Kurtzman, and Mr. Kurtzman signed his name in black Sharpie near the bottom right hand corner of the print. The print's paper size is 10.5" x 10.5", with an image area of 9" x 6.5". This item also includes an 18-page Certificate of Authenticity booklet, which contains "A History of the Madmen," biographies of all of the popular MAD artists and writers. Note: I acquired this collectible at the New York offices of MAD Magazine as they moved their offices to California. The Certificate of Authenticity Booklet with it has a different number on it than the print. The print is in excellent condition and is made with fine archival quality paper. Comes in a protective plastic sleeve. This is a rare, frameable piece of comic book history that will be treasured by the MAD, comic book, and or Kurtzman fan!
