Description: Magna Britannia Notitia, or The Present State of Great Britain with diverse remarks upon the ancient state thereof by John Chamberlayne 1735. The thirty first edition of the south part, called England; and the Tenth for the north part, called Scotland. Plus a complete list of the Queens household in two parts. 20x13 cm, contents plus 461 pages, plus a general list or catalogue of all the offices and officers employed (261 pages), plus a list of Scotland (80 pages), plus an appendix and 8 page catalogue of books printed for and sold by Samuel Birt. Bookplate of John William Willis Bund, who was a lawyer and legal writer. Next to the bookplate is a Wick Episcopi library label. The Bund family have owned land in the area since 1457, and he will have inherited this book from his parents, having been born in 1843. Calf leather covers are worn, with rubbing and chipping to the edges plus spine, with a small paper label. The front board is cracked through and loose feeling, but seems to be holding at three points. Bookplate to the front pastedown, edge of pastedown is tanned, presumably from the original binders glue, which has also tanned the edges of the next two blank pages. Text generally well preserved. The beginning of the List of Offices has a list of names which have annotations affecting approximately 8 pages, there are also some pages in this area which are a little foxed. Covers are fair, contents good. Will be carefully bubblewrapped and packed in a box. Thanks for looking.
