Description: Offered is a whimsical bronze alligator from Maitlanf Smith. The alligator is standing on two feet with its tail curled around its feet and a huge cigar stuck in the corner of its moutn.. Knowing that alligators are native to the Southern states this piece looked like a grand standing Southern statesman and you could almost hear his thundering voice as he stood there with his stogie. The perforated brass tray is an enigma...One would think it might have been meant for bar soap (maybe an ode to a soap box) but the base of the figure is wood which would be damaged with that use.
