Description: Create the world?s first space suit in 1/6 scale! Developed in 1935 by B.F. Goodrich for high-altitude pioneer, Wiley Post, this is the suit that started space exploration! Wiley Post was attempting to break world aviation speed records by flying into the stratosphere, where wind resistance was much lower. However, his aircraft did not have air pressure control needed to keep him conscious and alert. Post teamed up with B.F. Goodrich to develop this primitive but functional pressure suit. B.F. Goodrich continued to develop space suits, providing a modified NAVY Mark IV suit for the Project Mercury Astronauts. This auction provides the two hard-to-model parts, the Pressure Helmet and the Liquid Oxygen Converter. Since the actual Smithsonian artifacts are rather worn, these parts take very little sanding and clean up before painting. See the close up image of the LOX Converter. Use these parts to create your own 12? display figure. These parts will need to be painted silver. Full Earth Workshop?s YouTube channel has a full video which shows how to make this figure?it is a rather simple build which requires other parts available on eBay.
