The Issuance of Commemorative Coins In Conjunction With The XIII Conference of Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Embargo : Not for publication or broadcast before 0900 on Thursday, 6 February 2003 6 Feb 2003 Bank Negara Malaysia is issuing three commemorative coins in conjunction with The XIII Conference of Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) scheduled to be held from 20 - 25 February 2003. The commemorative coins are legal tender and the specifications are as follows: Gold Commemorative Coins (proof) This proof coin is made of gold with 999.9 purity and weights 8.6 grams. It has a face value of RM100 and sold at RM888 a piece. The mintage quantity is limited to 300 pieces only. Silver Commemorative Coin (proof) This proof coin, with a face value of RM10 is made of silver of 925 purity and weights 21.7 grams. It is sold at RM128 a piece. The mintage quantity is limited to 2,400 pieces only. Nordic gold Commemorative Coin (brilliant uncirculated and proof) The Nordic gold coin is issued in two versions, namely brilliant uncirculated and proof, both with a face value of RM1. Only the Nordic gold of the brilliant uncirculated is available individually at RM8 each with total mintage of 9,400 pieces. The proof Nordic gold coin will only be available in set of 3 and set of 2. The set of 3 consists of the gold, silver and Nordic gold proof coins. They are sold at RM1,088 per set with only 300 sets available. The set of 2 consists of the silver and Nordic gold proof coins. The set will be sold at RM168 per set with only 300 sets available. Coin Design The same design is used for all three types of commemorative coins. The obverse depicts the Conference's official logo and wording. The reverse side depicts the Parliament House, star and crescent, representing the seat of the Government, democracy and the place where Government policies are decided.
