The notebook begins with the club's constitution and by-laws, which announce that the club's object was "to advance scientific knowledge and improve the members in society and scientific work." The minutes discuss the business of the club, mainly the managment of a library of medical texts and magazines made available for club members, i.e.:"Any member taking a journal or book from the Library shall place his name, name & date of journal and date when taken upon the cards provided...a penalty of 5 c per day shall be assessed for each journal or book kept longer than the time herein provided."The minutes also note papers read before the club and demonstrations given by doctors, covering a wide range of medical topics of the day, including tuberculosis, diptheria, and women's ailments such as eclampsia. Some of the entries also include lengthier descriptions of notable recent cases by doctors, including several relating to sexual health and/or women's health:"Dr. Hassan presented history of a case of gonorrhoeal arthiritis treated by Biers method--with entire relief of symptoms in large joints in 2 weeks. Bandage was applied first every 2 hrs then 5 & 10 hrs. Another case in wich the vaccine & Biers method were used jointly--The case was a severe one in which the muscles were entirely paralyzed. The patient recovered sufficiently to date that we was able to go hunting...""Dr. R.A. Hanna reported two unusual cases of extrauterine pregrancy. History:--Patient had been flowing about a month and a previous curettage had been done about three weeks ago. There was no pain until rupture. Immediately following rupture patient went into collapse and died. Second case--Patient was coming in on train and was taken with a severe pain with collapse.
