Centuries later, Upon emerging from their underground dwellings, they find their civilization is gone-replaced with the most fearsome beasts to ever walk the Earth… Dinosaurs! Mark Schultz delivers an epic adventure tale, one complete with romance and intrigue. Collecting issues 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 of Xenoxoic Tales, the final six chapters (so far), and with Schultz at the peal of his artistic powers. Al Williamson, Frank Frazetta, Roy Krenkel and Wally Wood would have been proud!. WHAT IS AN ARTIST’S EDITION?AN ARTIST'S EDITION PRESENTS COMPLETE STORIES WITH EACH PAGE SCANNED FROM THE ACTUAL ORIGINAL ART.While appearing to be in black and white, each page was scanned in color to mimic as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art—for instance, corrections, blue pencils, paste-overs, all the little nuances that make original art unique. Each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art board. What sets this edition apart is that it is even larger! (Read further) “Flesk Publishing did something interesting, it accumulated all of Schultz's original black-and-white artwork for the comic volumes 9-14 (the end of the incomplete series) and produced an Artist's Edition of high resolution images printed as closely as possible to reproduce the original artwork as Schultz created it. This book is well worth obtaining and closely examining if only to appreciate the exquisite detail of Schultz's amazing work. The odd thing here is that with all the attention and down-right adoration this incomplete series has received, Schultz has apparently never had the time or inclination to complete it. He seems content to rest on the incomplete work and bask in the praise that it has rightly earned. It is unfortunate that Schultz never completed his masterpiece, at least up to the current date. It is as though Leonardo Da Vinci finished the head and shoulders of the Mona Lisa and then just stopped at that and moved on to other projects. With that said, Schultz's work is so extraordinary that it is worth collecting and viewing, even if left unfinished.OK, so much for the background history of this Artist's Edition. Now for the actual review of this 2-pound collection of art that is so massive as to be almost unbelievable. Comics are 10 inches tall by 6.5 inches wide. They are dwarfed by the book which is 20 inches tall and about 14 and one-half inches wide. The book has transparencies for comic volumes 13 and 14 that illustrate how the art for colored covers of these comics was produced. Amazing detail. Original notes from the colorist are provided to show the extreme detail required to produce covers in collaboration with Schultz. Each page of the book takes up the area of four comics. Bottom line, this book is truly amazing and is a tribute to Schultz's work. Also, there is a two-page introductory note from Schultz that you will find interesting. Just perusing the huge duplicate pages of the artwork for his last six comics is a joy and a privilege.” - Excerpt from an independent review. Listing and template services provided by inkFrog
