LXXXI.Loosely translates as Conversations Over Dinner (or Table Talk) by Martin Luther. Printed in Leipzig (Germany/Deutschland) by Jakob Berwald Erben, 1581. Essentially a compilation of Luther's conversations presumably about religion and the future of the Protestant churches. Size, Binding: Large chunky folio, measuring 12 x 8 x 3" (30 1/2 x 20 x 8 cm), in dark brown thin leather over cardboard. Probably bound circa 1850 with the corner ornaments, end-papers are definitely 19th century, The text is complete with a an appendix at the end. Typical age-toning and some bookworm holes, one in the middle for several signatures, but small. Priced to sell. A nice folio edition of the so-called Table-Talk Conversations of Martin Luther. This work was first published about 20 years after Luther's passing, and this edition about 35 years after. By this time the religious wars of Germany were ending, except in the Netherlands, and other monarchs such as Queen Elizabeth I were Protestant. NOTE: The pictures are of the actual item for sale.
