The Northeastern Expressway is a freeway heading northeast out of Baltimore, running over 40 miles to the Delaware line. President John F. Kennedy was the guest of honor at the highway's opening ceremonies. Only eight days later, he was killed in Dallas, Texas. Given Kennedy's connection to the highway, the road was renamed in honor of the fallen president. The road was later incorporated into the route of Interstate 95, which is it currently signed as today. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. They disappeared from the roads of Maryland many years ago, having been replaced with standard I-95 signs. The short amount of time they were in service makes it unlikely that very many of them survive to this day. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without paying an arm and a leg on the collector's market. The sign is 22 by 22 inches, and weighs 9 lb. 14 oz. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
