Description: Up for sale is a Massachusetts appointment to the Naval brigade. Signed by Governor William Russell. Certificate is made out to John Soley and dated March 22, 1893. It is signed by William Russell who was governor at the time and William Olin who was secretary of Massachusetts, a journalist and veteran of the Civil war. See photos for detail of appointment and condition. Overall in very good condition. Has been stored rolled. A neat piece of history. Scarce. Some light browning, dings to edges in particular.
