Description: Beautiful Chac Mool sculpture designed by Mexican sculptor Javier Arenas Perez and made by D'Argenta Mexico (D' Argenta Internacional, S.A.) Modern reproduction of the famous pre-Hispanic statue found in Chichen Itza in the 19th century. Approx 11.25" x 5.75" x 8.2". The item is large and very heavy/solid. Statue's finish is in very good condition. It has only been displayed on a bookshelf. I looked over the statue with a flashlight and could not see any noticable scratches or dents. The only thing I found was that under a flashlight, the right side of Chac Mool's face has very faint and tiny discolorations in the silver finish. I tried to provide photos that show these when under a small flashlight, and then the face under normal overhead home lighting. (***Note care instructions from d'argenta website: D'Argenta Statues are to be cleaned only with a soft piece of cloth to remove any dust. No metal polishers or cleaning agents should be used. They are protected by a strong lacquer that prevents silver tarnishing ) Please inspect all photos closely. They are an important part of the description. Items are shipped in the exact condition shown in photos. This piece is from my personal collection and has had only one owner. I am always happy to answer any questions or provide more photos before purchase as I do not accept returns. From the website: Chac Mool is the term used to refer to a particular form of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican sculpture depicting a reclining figure with its head facing 90 degrees from the front, supporting itself on its elbows and supporting a bowl or a disk upon its stomach. These figures possibly symbolised slain warriors carrying offerings to the gods; the bowl upon the chest was used to hold sacrificial offerings, The chacmool form of sculpture first appeared around the 9th century AD in the Valley of Mexico and the northern Yucatán Peninsula.
