This is a vintage, original book and dustjacket from 1976. The author, John Taft, was a student at Yale during the May Day events of 1970. From the dustjacket: "The author writes from the perspective of a recent Yale graduate whose family have studied and taught at Yale University for five generations. He describes the student uprising at Yale during the spring of 1970, when the university community became preoccupied with the Black Panther trial taking place in the New Haven County Courthouse, less than a block away from the campus. Yale Radicals, assisted by outside activists and community Blacks, used the trial to arouse hitherto quiescent moderates to a pitch of excitement that persisted through May Day. Although the disturbances in New Haven had unique aspects -- as did those elsewhere -- all of themes common to campus unrest were present. Thus, by examining those themes within the context of his case study, the author arrives at a number of findings..." The book is very rare, especially with its original dustjacket.
