Description: Fabulous McClelland Barclay cast Spelter and bronzed portrayal of a Great Dane. McClelland Barclay (1891-1943) was one of the top commercial illustration artists of the 1920s and 30s in New York. He would later expand his work into sculpture, particularly with dogs as subjects. Mr. McClelland died in combat aboard a Navy vessel in the Pacific campaign in 1943. Stands 6.75 inches high. Weight approx. 2.5 lbs. A wonderful and somewhat rare example of the artist's work and love of dogs. The legendary personality of the Great Dane is perfectly captured.
