Description: This is a very nice vintage storage box or chest to keep your favorite flatware safe and clean. The chest looks to be a Mid-Century Modern era, from the 50s or 60s from the looks of the knobs. It is a beautiful box, not sure of the wood, is a dark to medium reddish brown, maybe mahogany but not sure, I am not very good with identifying my woods (husband said it may be maple). It has a pull-out drawer for storing the extras but would call it a 12-place setting box because of the knife slots. Has a nice red interior with a little light wear. The chest has swing handles on the sides for carring. On bottom it is marked in the wood MADE IN ROMANIA then has a ink stamp mark but have no idea what it means. It is in nice shape with showing light to normal wear, nothing major wrong with this box. It measures (including handles/pulls) 16” x 11 ¾”x 5 ¾”.
