Description: This is a hard to find antique Minnesota Michigan college football rivalry advertising Redwing pottery miniature jug from the early 1900s.....MINNESOTA MICHIGAN in blue underglaze print on front.....brown dipped shoulder...pottery mini jug with applied handle...only 2 5/8"tall..it has the little raised ring around middle which was used by Redwing....Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage of any kind. A nice clean jug with no stain. The Little Brown Jug trophy is the oldest trophy in College football. This famous rivalry between the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Michigan Wolverines began in 1892. The Redwing Stoneware Co began making these little miniature jugs which were sold as souvenirs at the football game. This particular jug is scarce with MINNESOTA on top of MICHIGAN...most of them you see have MICHIGAN over MINNESOTA .....
