The resulting digital image allows for quantification of subtle signal intensity differences over a wide dynamic range using storage phosphor imaging systems.Storage phosphor screens are reusable and are not degraded by repeated exposure to laboratory levels of radioactivity. Exposing the screen to ionizing radiation results in latent image formation. The screen is then scanned by lasers, which makes the crystals in the screen release energy as blue light.
