No damage or issues. Perfect! • DISCUSSION: Exquisite authentic Ferro & Lazzarini, Italian Murano art glass paperweight, made circa 1980. Measures about 3½-inches high, it is decorated at the core with a white pulegoso glass that teems with bubbles. Surrounding that is a thick crystal-clear layer that sports a finely detailed, beautiful pulled-feather pattern. Finally, the piece is topped with a slice of murrina (millefiori canes flower), creating a fascinating example of ancient Venetian glass technique and modern Italian artistry, complete with original maker's label! Pontil/base is ground-flat and polished. This should make an excellent addition to any art glass collection, or a thoughtful gift for a special person--including yourself! FULL CONDITION REPORT: We thoroughly inspected this piece and found that no cracks, chips, nicks, scuffs, flea bites, flakes, hairlines, notable scratches (located other than weight-bearing base), repairs, stains, residue, odors, evidence of grinding or signs of restoration could be seen or felt. Any natural indentations, bubbles, tool marks, carbon/ash deposits, and/or any other natural textural features are all original and normal for hand blown glass. Wear to base is normal and consistent with age. The glass factory was founded on 18th August 1929 by Eugenio Ferro in partnership with Giovanni Lazzarini and was initially called FERRO EUGENIO & CO. Its first creations were artistic glass objects and Venetian chandeliers. Following the premature death of Eugenio Ferro in 1947, the glass factory was managed by his young heirs. WATCH OUT! 🤨 ~ “There is today, by far, more FAKE Murano glass on the market than there is genuine!” ~ INVEST IN THE REAL THING: All genuine Murano art glass is made ONLY on the small island group of MURANO, in Venice Bay, Italy. The enclave's closely guarded formulas, techniques and traditions date back to the thirteenth century—1292. That, and an unparalleled reputation for artistry, quality and value helps give genuine Murano glass its exclusivity, collectibility and resultant appreciation factor. So, investing in authentic Murano glass enriches your collection, and never looses value. Establishing authenticity is of paramount importance, but difficult for the novice, because there is rampant abuse of the trademark name “Murano”. Before 1980, most Murano glass was only usually identified with impermanent paper/foil labels. So the name was easily co-opted by a variety of outside fraudulent glass makers. Post-1980, genuine Murano glass is much more carefully labeled and/or signed.
