It lights up when you press the ribbon bow button on the left side.Figure is 5 1/2" tall (including crown). This toy includes new coin batteries. Also, while this toy does light up, it doesn't stay lit long, and I don't know if is supposed to do that or has just lost some of its functioning. The toy is clean and in pretty good condition.
