Description: This is a RARE copy as it is a STATED 1st Edition, copyright 1959, signed by author Anderson in December 1958 (books are usually released to authors in advance of the official publication dates prior to public release, hence the month earlier signature date); this VG HC has no tears, stains, or markings except some minor smudges on pages 122-123 which do not inhibit the print on those pages (photo); the DJ is Acceptable as it is intact, but it has overall wear and a tear on the edges plus age tanning on the underside, which most likely protected the book it covered from wear & tear; the bright blue cover boards and spine with silver lettering & black decorations do indeed show minimal wear (photos); the text block is tight and secure; apparently the top edge of the text block was highlighted with dark tint at publication (photo). The book includes maps on the front & back inside covers and fly pages and black/white photographs amidst the text by John Krawczyk, U.S.N.
