The slides are on both shoes and they work very well. The grey looking inserts are actually charcoal and are very dark compared to the picture. The shoe looks like it's almost all black. Shoe fit is comfortable (nice and snug), which is what you want in a bowling shoe. With a dark shoe and black laces, it will not show wear as easily as other colors. I especially love the flat sole design. I tried a shoe with a separate heel and found I couldn't bowl with it as the raised heel kept making me stick during my slide.
