Description: From 1972-1974: a six-issue lot of Jack Kirby's Fourth World series. Each is complete, all staples are intact, free from rust, and are holding all pages and covers together. No water damage. Average condition of this lot is Fine Minus, with specific defects noted below. The New Gods #6 features "Glory Boat!" featuring Orion and Lightray in battle with the Deep Six from Apokolips. Jack Kirby wrote and penciled this story, with inks by Mike Royer. The cover for this issue is penciled by Kirby and inked by Vince Colletta. Reprinted in this issue is a Golden Age Manhunter story by Simon & Kirby. "Beware of Mr. Meek!" first appeared in Adventure Comics #75 in 1942. Fine Minus condition. There is a thin color-breaking crease at the upper right-hand corner of the front cover, through the letters W and S in the New Gods cover logo. Another crease on the back cover is in the lower left-hand section of the book. Wear around the edges of the back cover, with some tiny tears along the left-hand edge. No water damage, but there are some spots of foxing staining around the white border areas of the inside front cover (see photo). Note the date stamp of Oct 12 71 next to Orion's blaster on the front cover. Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #146 features a cover by Jack Kirby & Mike Royer, who also drew the interior art. Jack Kirby's script is called "Homo Disastrous" and is the conclusion to Kirby's Evil Factory storyline begun in Jimmy Olsen #135. Also features a Golden Age Simon & Kirby Newsboy Legion reprint from Star-Spangled Comics #12 (1942). Very Good / Fine condition. The pages and covers are quite tanned around the edges. As a result there is a bit of tearing and chipping around the edges, particularly along the upper edge. There is a color break at the lower right-hand corner of the front cover. The New Gods #9 features the first appearance of "The Bug" Forager as well as the first appearance of the All-Widow. Jack Kirby wrote and penciled this story, with Mike Royer inking. Kirby & Royer drew the cover. Also features a Golden Age Simon & Kirby Manhunter reprint from Adventure Comics #78 (1942). Fine Minus condition. The primary defect on this book is the overhang along the right-hand edge, which has led to a bit of raggedness, particularly along the lower right-hand section. The New Gods #10 (1972) features "Earth, the Doomed Dominion!" written and drawn by Jack Kirby. Orion, Lightray and Forager appear in this issue, as does Mantis, the power vampire originally seen in Kirby's Forever People #2. Fine Minus condition. No staining. There is a tiny sliver of a chip out at the upper left-hand corner of the front cover, and another at the upper right-hand corner of the front cover, otherwise complete. Pages are tanned. The Forever People #11 is the final issue of the original Jack Kirby series. First appearance of "Devilance the Pursuer." Kirby scripts, pencils and cover. Mike Royer inks. Darkseid makes a cameo appearance. Fine Minus condition. No staining. The upper left-hand corner of the front cover has some moderate damage, as seen in the front cover scan. There is a tiny color-breaking crease at the upper right-hand corner, and a bit of abrasion at the lower left-hand corner. Mister Miracle #18 is the final issue of the original Jack Kirby run, with Kirby again writing, penciling and drawing the cover, with inking by Mike Royer. Darkseid makes a cameo appearance, as do Orion, Metron, Lightray and Highfather, their first appearances since the cancellation of the New Gods series.
