Description: New-Old-Stock (NOS) 3T Morphe Handlebars with Randonneur Bends (42 cm x 26.0 mm) Thank you for your interest in this item and please visit our store for other offerings. We have very reasonable shipping terms and combine orders to save money (for customers) on shipping costs. We also maintain customer friendly return/refund/exchange policies. Product Description: This offering is for one set of new-old-stock 3T "Morphe" handlebars in a size 44 cm and with a relatively common stem clamp size of 26.0 mm (and please note that 3T measures their bars from outside edge to outside edge with respect to their width). Measuring from center-to-center, these handlebars are approximately 42 cm wide. We are fairly certain these bars have been out of production for a number of years given the classic (sleeved) center-section look, satin (shiny) silver finish and traditional maes (rounded) bends. We should also mention these bars are double grooved to handle all forms of vintage aero brake levers and modern dual control brake/shifter levers. It appears 3T made these heat treated aluminum alloy handlebars in one distinct style...with a randonneur bend. The uniqueness of this bend is in the modest backward and upward sweep from the center section. So unlike traditional maes drop bars where the bar tubing generally extends in a straight line from the center section, the randonneur bends will position the rider in a slightly more upright position when the hands are positioned along the top section of the bars (as a result of the previously mentioned backward and upward sweep). Moving past this unique top section of these handlebars, the bends in the tubing that end in the drop section are fairly shallow and resemble an anatomical design. For those that are not familiar with the anatomical designed handlebars, they typically have very distinct bends in the drops, as opposed to the uniform and rounded bends of traditional road handlebars. These distinct bends create more defined hand positions...or flat spots...in between the bends. It appears to be a personal preference debate as to which style is superior...some like the feel of the traditional rounded handlebars where the hand positioning is probably more varied...and some like the feel of the anatomical designed bars where the hand positioning is somewhat more limited, but some would argue more secure (given the flattened bar design between bends). In the end, there is probably merit to both designs, but please keep in mind these handlebars are the anatomic design. Consistent with our other 3T handlebar offerings (and in an attempt to further assist with proper fit), we have taken some additional (center-to-center) measurements and noted a reach of 80 mm and a drop of 135 mm (and please refer to our notes below that specify our measurement techniques...in the event someone wants to replicate our approach for comparative purposes). In terms of condition, these handlebars are new and unused. Upon close inspection, we are usually able to identify minor shopwear (scuffs and scratches) around the center section of our 3T offerings, but I can confirm the next bars to ship in this model/size/finish are in nice overall condition. Please understand when I say "next bars to ship" I mean we will pick through our limited stocks and ship the cosmetically nicest bars we have left in inventory to the next customer that places an order. Specifically as it relates to these handlebars, I have a handful of them left in stock and I've looked them over well enough to know there are still some cosmetically nice bars available. A note about our "reach" and "drop" measurements... A number of customers have asked about our handlebar measurement techniques, so we thought it was probably appropriate to better define how we go about measuring the handlebars we offer for sale. The drop...we "stand the bars up" so the only contact point with the table top is the flattened drop area near the bar ends (although we typically have to hold the bars in this position so they do not fall over). From this position, with the drop section of the bars resting on the table top, we measure the vertical distance from the table top to the bottom edge of the bar tubing at the stem clamp area. This provides our version of a center-to-center measurement for the drop. The reach...keeping the bars in the upright position on the table (as noted above), we push them against the wall facing us, so the outermost section of the bar bend (i.e., the area around where the shifter/brake levers are mounted) is touching the wall. From this position, we measure the horizontal distance from the wall to the front of the stem clamp area. This provides our version of a center-to-center measurement for the reach. Note to international customers regarding shipping... We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case. Note to international customers regarding customs... We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
