Description: 72mm LINEAR POLARIZER FILTER - NEW IN BOX Listing & for sale is a brand new in a protective case. Product Highlights Helps to Eliminate Reflections and GlareReduces Haze and Blue Cast in LandscapesGreater Color and Tonal SaturationColorCore Technology The Tiffen Linear Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage. A linear polarizer only differs from a circular polarizer in that it does not contain a quarter wave plane that enables use of auto focus and exposure features. Linear polarizers are best suited for use with manual cameras, such as view cameras, that are not dependent on internal mechanisms to determine focus or metering settings. Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings. Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light. Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors. Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun. Constructed using Tiffen's ColorCore technology. Polarizing Filters Polarizers provide color and contrast enhancement. Reflected light often shows up as whitish glare that washes out color in an image. A Polarizer corrects this problem producing deep, dramatically blue skies. It also removes glare from non-metallic surfaces, such as windows and water. Color saturation in general, especially outdoors, can be improved significantly. Polarizer/Circular Polarizer Essential general-use outdoor color filterProduces deeper skies and minimizes reflections in black and white and color photographyCombine a Polarizer with a Red 25 for incredibly dramatic black and white landscapesCan be rotated to achieve desired effectUse the Tiffen Polarizer with the enhancing filter for more dramatic effectsAvailable for Wide Angle lenses A Circular Polarizer has the same effect as a Polarizer and is used on cameras with beam splitting metering systems commonly found on auto focus SLR's (for most 35mm auto-focus cameras see your camera manual). Area of sky most effectively polarized with a Circular Polarizer: Point your index finger at the sun. With your thumb extended at a right angle (90) TIP HOW TO PROLONGING THE LIFE OF YOUR FILTERS Filters, like all crafted optics, are susceptible not only to breakage, but to premature aging caused by environmental factors. Most filters are made up of several layers of materials consisting of glass, dyes, optical cements, chemical compounds, particles etc. Even with protective measures employed, there are many factors that can still affect the longevity of the filter: moisture (prolonged exposure to humidity), excessive heat and excessive light are the most common environmental causes that can affect the filter’s chemistry over time. To protect your filters and keep them in great working condition for a long time (along with the rest of your camera gear) we recommend making sure to keep the filters stored in a dark, cool, and dry place when not in use. The use of filter pouches or specialized cases will also keep your filters safe from breakage when not in use. If you are in a humid environment, the addition of fresh silica gel packs or a dehumidifier in the room they are stored is also highly recommended. Protecting your filters as you would your camera lenses will ensure many years of use of your filters. What do you recommend cleaning filters with? Hand blower first, if it's just light dust, that usually handles it. If you need to clean further, a Kim Wipe sprayed with Tiffen/Pancro Lens Cleaner, work in a circular motion from the middle out.
