Description: NEWFOUNDLAND 145 1928 1c DEEP GREEN MAP LABRADOR PUBLICITY ISSUE VF MPH Please read the TERMS OF SALE below prior to bidding. BID WITH CONFIDENCE - SATISFACTION GUARANTEED NEWFOUNDLAND 145 1928 1c DEEP GREEN MAP LABRADOR PUBLICITY ISSUE VF MPH One cent, deep green, Newfoundland and Labrador Map' stamp from the 1928 'Labrador Publicity Issue', engraved, no watermark. Printed on heavy weight, white wove paper with horizontal mesh, whitish (almost colorless) gum. Excellent color and appearance, very well centered. Approximately 30% of original gum disturbed by previous hinging. Sound, fault-free example of this Newfoundland stamp. Stamp shown is a good representative of those that are available. If the stamp received fails to meet expectations, it may be returned for a replacement or full refund. In 1927, the British Privy Council, over Canada's objection on behalf of Quebec, confirmed the Dominion of Newfoundland's historical claim to Labrador. Newfoundland used the reward to publicize it's significantly enlarged landmass through a new series of stamps that hopefully would encourage additional tourism and economic development. The first of 3 series of stamps known as the "Publicity" or "Pictorial" (sometimes "Newfoundland-Labrador") issue was printed in 1928 by De La Rue and Company of London. Soon after this printing, De La Rue lost it's contract to John Dickson and Company but refused to turn over the engraving plates to the new contractor. John Dickson then asked Perkins, Bacon and Company to produce "re-engraved" plates of most of the 1928 images which were subsequently used to print the 2nd Publicity stamp series in 1929-1931 and the 3rd Publicity issue in July of 1931. Paper watermarked with the Newfoundland 'Coat of Arms' was used for the first time in the printing of the 3rd Publicity issue. Note: in the 1928 issue of the 1 cent stamp, Cape Bauld is shown incorrectly located above Cape Norman. This error was corrected in the re-engraved 1929 - 1931 issues. Images should provide all the information necessary to make a reasonably intelligent bid on this lot. However, if it doesn't live up to your expectations you are always welcome to return it for a full refund - NO QUESTIONS ASKED. My feedback speaks for itself. I am confident that a mutually satisfactory solution can be worked out to any problem that might develop. Please give me a chance to fix something that is not satisfactory to you before leaving negative feedback. Although 3 and 4 star DSR scores may be considered "good" by just about any reasonable standard, they aren't as far as ebay is concerned. Anything but 5 ratings in a seller's DSR score may impact their ability to offer items for sale on ebay. Therefore, having an opportunity to earn your highest rating would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your consideration. TERMS OF SALE SHIPPING/HANDLING/INSURANCE: Within the USA - $.85 All other countries - $1.85 PAYMENT: payment by PayPal only.
