Description: Nice antique Norris A5 smoothing plane with lots of blade remaining. Norris planes are among the highest regarded planes ever made. The blade adjuster allows precise blade advance and side to side angle adjustments. The plane is relatively heavy so it has the mass to plow through spots of difficult grain without hanging up. The blade has Mose of its useable length remaining. There is a ding in the corner of the edge of the blade which will need honing out. An owner's name is stamped on the bun. Minor pitting on the sole but that does not affect use. The mouth is suitable for general work in softwood and hardwood. This would make a splendid Christmas present for a woodworker!
