Description: You are bidding on one hardbound copy of the book The Wooden Plane by John Whelan as pictured.This is a great reference for molding plane and other wood bodied plane profiles, especially sash profiles, and my own copy is one of the most reached for books in my tool library. There is an amazing amount of information in this book! Not to be confused with his book Making Traditional Wooden Planes, they are quite different in what they cover. It measures about 7-3/8" by 10-1/4", hardbound with dust jacket, 503 pages. Dated copyright 1993 by The Astragal Press, no stated printing, ISBN 1-879335-32-8. This belonged to a very good friend and fellow tool collector, who passed away in November 2022, and I am selling it for his family. It has his name stamped in at least three places, and a brief inscription that it was gifted to him at Christmas 1993. Condition is very good with very light wear to the corners of the covers, and some light wear to the edges of and a few creases in the dust jacket. I don't see any other marking or writing on the pages.This is still available in softcover, hardcover has been out of print for some time. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly.
